Interpersonal Skills and Communication
Competency: Communicates effectively to create and sustain a therapeutic relationship with patients and families
Identifies the primary provider(s) of information
Identifies self and other members of the health care team and explains role appropriately to patient and/or family members
Communicates with patient effectively, and in the appropriate setting
Demonstrates the ability to maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients over time
Uses appropriate language at the proper developmental/educational level
Elicits histories from patients using effective verbal and non-verbal techniques, using effective listening skills
Uses correct English in written and verbal communication
Maintains comprehensive, timely, and legible medical records and correspondence
